The federation decided to give more teams the opportunity to play in Europa. The set-up of the tournament is a bit of a mix between the Champions League and the Europa League. 72 teams will start in the first qualification round. Several teams join the qualifications in the second and third round. After several qualification rounds and a play-off round the tournament starts with 32 teams. These 32 teams will be split over 8 groups. 8 winners of these groups qualify directly for the knockouts. The 8 numbers two, will play a pre-knockout round with 8 teams who got eliminated from the Europa League. The 8 winners of the pre-knockouts will join the 8 group winners in the round of 16. The winner of this tournament automatically qualifies for the Europa League.
